Confessions of a Boston Celtics Fan

There’s zero search marketing relevancy to this post. This is my blog, not the search marketing industry’s. Besides, no one reads it anyway.

I loved that the Lakers won game 5. The Celtics had a shot and fought well – but they failed to capitalize in the closing minutes. It keeps them humble, lets them realize how big their game 4 performance was… and it provides motivation for tonight.

This championship (now a forgone conclusion) is as much about Doc Rivers as anyone else in a Celtics uniform.

Doc has busted his ass, fighting off naysayers for years now – never earning any credit. To this day the Celtics can win in a 20 point blowout and he’ll be thrown under a bus by fair weathered Celtics fans for a poor substitution or “bad play call”.

My brother made the argument that Sunday night was the best night for the Celtics to close it out. I disagree. While it was Father’s Day – and there was plenty of significance – it was still Los Angeles.

This is Boston’s time. The Red Sox won their recent titles on the road. The Patriots, despite all of their success – will never win it all in Foxboro.

Tonight, the Celtics will win it all in Boston.

It’s happened before, sure. Just not like this.

I don’t remember the 80’s. I know I watched… but I was too young to understand it all. I’ve been a die hard Celtics fan since those years. When my son was born, I draped a Delonte West jersey over him as he napped to take some vanity photos. Last year, when they had their worst season in franchise history, I DVR’d all games and watched, as a real fan should.

I know I’m rambling. But, tomorrow will be a fantastic day for Celtics fans. Tonight? That will be even better.

If you’re on Twitter, ignore myself as well as Lisa Barone and Chris Hooley. We’ll be obnoxious.

Oh… Today would have been Grady Rivers’ 77th birthday. While I know he’s passed, he’ll be thrilled for what Doc manages to accomplish tonight. And frankly, we all need to thankful for the role that Doc has played in this year’s success.

I thought this was an seo blog? I’ll get my sports information at ESPN, thanks.

Dude, I am so proud right now. You called it. But I’ll say it.

Boston IS TitleTown.

I am so happy to be a Boston Sports Fan, and so thankful for this year in sports. I can’t believe I was here to witness this piece of our beloved city’s history.

Red Sox break the curse and win 2 in a couple years. Patriots become a dynasty, and then, the best team in NFL history… even if they did have a bad last 90 seconds of their season, BC football, BC Hockey, even the Bruins made the playoffs… and then, the Celtics. Best team in the NBA and world champs for the 17th time.

This is just amazing. Eric, can’t wait to buy you a beer, and site down, and remember this moment brother.
