Yahoo Removes Directory Listings from General SERPs
If you’re searching on Yahoo! you may notice that sites appearing in the results are no longer showing links to their Yahoo! Directory listings.
For more coverage on this be sure to check out Barry’s post on Search Engine Roundtable or Search Engine Land. Finally, you can discuss this with others over on the Search Engine Roundtable Forums.
My opinion on this is pretty weak, at best. I haven’t been an advocate of new Y! Directory listings for a while because of the decreased value in the link itself. This leads me to think that the current value is on the decline even for the folks over at Yahoo. While the $300 annual subscriptions will continue to renew for my dedicated clients, I highly doubt that I’ll actively recommend any new subscriptions in the coming months.
